Data storage resources
The ULiège and the GIGA provide several services to store your data, depending on their size, type and usage. These platforms vary in terms of security, storage limits and ease-of-use.
In the following sections, you can find out which one of these tools fulfils your needs in terms of:
compliance to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
compliance to the ISO 27001 standard
available storage space for each user
accessibility from inside and outside of the ULiège with or without the VPN
integration with RSpace
Small files and work computer backups
There are multiple solutions available to backup small important files or to share them with other university members.

Source code and analysis scripts
The university provides its members with an access to both a public GitLab and a private GitLab servers.
Important
The private GitLab server has a restricted number of licenses. Therefore, you should contact your UDI to make sure there are still enough available accounts before registering.
Attention
Git, and by extension GitLab, are not built to work large binary files.
Consequently, it is not recommended to use them to track multiple versions of your data.
If you are working on a project that involves such large files,
make sure to add them to a .gitignore configuration file.
Note
While the public GitLab server is accessible without being connected to the VPN, and can therefore be used to collaborate with people outside the university, the private GitLab server requires a VPN connection and only allows collaboration with other university members.

GIGA cluster
The GIGA cluster is dedicated to GIGA members and collaborators usage only.
CÉCI clusters
The CÉCI clusters are available for any member of the ULiège and feature a wide variety of node types (fat, accelerated…).
Attention
CÉCI clusters cannot be used for paid production work. In addition, make sure to comply to the rules for using these clusters.
